Actor Rishi Kapoor has died at the age of 67. Confirming the news of the veteran actor’s death

Actor Rishi Kapoor has died at 67 after a two-year battle with leukaemia. Rishi breathed his last at the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. His wife and actor Neetu Kapoor was by his side. “Yes, he is no more,” Rishi’s elder brother Randhir Kapoor told Hindustan Times.
Rishi Kapoor has died at 67.

A statement from the family read:
Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.
He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.
He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.
In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force.
He would not have it any other way.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Multifaceted, endearing and lively...this was Rishi Kapoor Ji. He was a powerhouse of talent. I will always recall our interactions, even on social media. He was passionate about films and India’s progress. Anguished by his demise. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti.”

When 'Inferno' actor Tom Hanks said that he wants to be cool like his co-star Irrfan Khan

Irrfan Khan was one of the few Indian stars to seamlessly transition from Bollywood to Hollywood, while breaking the stereotypical barriers reserved for brown people in the West with his unconventional acting skills.
From pivotal roles in big budget tent-poles like 'Jurassic World', 'Inferno' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man' to critically acclaimed and successful crossover dramas such as 'The Namesake', 'Slumdog Millionaire' and 'Life of Pi', Irrfan was India's first and biggest export to Hollywood. And he did all this without making any clamor about invading the West, and instead let his work do the talking.

He was the actor who matched the Oscar-winning Tom Hanks' on-screen thunder. He portrayed the role of the head of an enigmatic international organisation known as 'The Consortium' in 'Inferno'. While promoting the film Tom Hanks said he wants to be cool like Irrfan.
"Here's what I hate about Irrfan Khan... I always think I'm the coolest guy in the room, and everybody's hanging on to every word I say and everybody's a little intimidated to be in my presence. And then Irrfan Khan walks into the room. And he's the coolest guy in the room," Tom Hanks said about working with Irrfan.

After carving a name for himself in Hindi cinema, he has gradually established himself in the West too. But there was a time in the 1990s when Irrfan was contemplating leaving the glitzy world of showbiz.

British filmmaker Asif Kapadia's "The Warrior" in 2001 gave a much-needed fillip to his career and an exposure to the West that opened new vistas. From there on, there was no looking back.

In an interview with IANS in the past, Irrfan had shared how his move to tread the Hollywood path was initially met with criticism.

"When I entered Hollywood, most of my colleagues and industry people used to say that 'Hollywood mein kya hai', 'Taxi driver aur waiter ke role hi hote hain'. But fortunately things have changed. Now, nationality is not important," he said, going on to use his character in "Inferno" to further elaborate his point. For me in 'Inferno', nationality doesn't matter, or like in 'Jurassic World', where I played the role of Simon Masrani -- he could have been an Indian Sindhi or an Italian. So that is how things are changing. Your nationality doesn't really become a limitation," the National Award-winning star had said.

He also starred in the 2017 film "The Song Of Scorpions", and 2007 movie "A Mighty Heart", which also featured Angelina Jolie, besides the Indo-German short film "The Cloud Door" (1994).

After working on the small screen, Irrfan made his film debut with a cameo in 1988 through Mira Nair's Oscar-nominated "Salaam Bombay". The actor passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday. He was 53.

The actor, diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018, was still recovering from the disease after extensive treatment in London.

The actor was taking baby steps back into the acting world. He recovered well enough to complete the shoot of "Angrezi Medium", which was incidentally the last film to hit the screens in India before the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

Katrina - Ranbir maintain a distance on the sets of 'Jagga Jasoos'

Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor haven't looked each other in the eye ever since their alleged breakup. The 'Chikni Chameli' and Kapoor Jr have time and over avoided bumping into each other at events and B-Town parties. And as usual, the couple are reportedly maintaining a distance from each other on the sets of their forthcoming flick, 'Jagga Jasoos.' Buzz is that the couple purposely avoided taking the same flight to Morocco, where they are currently shooting for the film. They allegedly even refused to stay put in the same hotel while there. Wonder if these two will ever let bygones be bygones.

Taking up for Shahrukh not personal: Salman Khan

Taking up for Shahrukh not personal: Salman Khan
Salman Khan in a no holds barred interview speaks about his association with the Bigg Boss reality show.

How much do you feel this season of Bigg Boss has been 'a family show'?
I enjoy my work so it has been wonderful. I think it has been a parivarik show to quite an extent. Sometimes the contestants go over board since they have no phone, watch etc, so they tend to get irritated. This time has been far better than the previous few seasons in terms of abusive language, and violent behavior. All these things happen but people can make a big deal of small issues and portray it differently like Imam has done a few times. If people become over friendly then some people think it's boring but then similarly if the show gets violent due to circumstances, it is not easy to control individual emotions from outside. Generally, the younger generation loves the fights and the older generation doesn't. A show with a format like this is hard to control and predict.

What are your views about the various changes that have been introduced in the format of the show this season?
The Bigg Boss tour etc was designed for the authentic Bigg Boss fan to get a glimpse of how the show works. The other 'Alag che' elements have kept the viewers on the edge of their seats. And as a viewer I've liked most of the elements introduced so far.

As a host, how do you prepare yourself to deal with different kind of contestants?
Well, honestly it's a tough job. I need to make sure I'm neither too sweet nor too harsh to the housemates. Both the extremes can be bad for them. It's a very dicey show, because sometimes you need to take someone's case but their parents as well as the whole nation is watching so it gets tough to decide when to be stern and polite.

You got furious with Imam and in fact took up for 'Shahrukh Khan' quite personally. What was the reason of the sudden outburst?
Well, it's nothing personal here. We work really hard in this industry to become who we are today. There is a difference between what is true and what is not! I just stood by the truth. I also did mention the same about Preity Zinta. I wonder why people are not talking about that!

You have been very involved this season particularly. How do you manage to follow the show?
I watch every episode of the week. I catch the repeat most of the times as well since I sleep late. I'm very involved in whatever I do whether it's a show, movie or whatever.

What is your message to the housemates as we approach the end of the season?
The contestants need to be careful about how they behave. Like on the show, Imam and Sapna are entertaining but if he/she has to find a job, will they be liked by employers? That's where they need to take a call sometimes.

Last year you were upset with the show being too loud and you would become preachy... Are you happy on how the show has gone this year?
Well yes, the show has definitely gone really well this year. Not only from COLORS and Endemol but people from outside have also been following the show regularly. So yes, I'm happy with the show this season. The TRPs etc have been good as well, but for me personally, I just like to experience the fun elements along with a few small fights/ arguments in the house.

Who is the potential winner of this season according to you?
Urvashi, Delnaaz, Niketan and Sana are my top four. The votes are the final deciders though. My opinion doesn't matter at all.

You shot for two episodes continuously for close to 12 weekends. How have you managed to be so fit, charming and energetic at 47?
I just have a very strict diet and routine now. All I do is concentrate is on work these days. My life is a holiday. I enjoy my work and don't have many complains.

Will you be interested to host another season of Bigg Boss?
Hopefully, if I get an offer I would take it but it is farfetched so let's see.

It's always been a sought-after destination for the Hindi film industry and Arbaaz Khan is no exception to the norm. After shooting the popular song Chori Kiya Re from Dabangg in Dubai, the director has once again chosen the same place for another track from the sequel toDabangg.

Mila Kunis 'threatened' by movie boss

Mila Kunis 'threatened' by movie boss
Mila Kunis has admitted that she was once threatened by a movie boss for not posing for provocative photographs for a men's magazine.
The actress has revealed that when she refused to appear in an unnamed men's magazine to promote the 2008 movie 'Max Payne', one of the movie's bosses warned her over the phone that he could spoil her career if she didn't change her mind.
"My career was threatened over me not wanting to do the cover of a magazine by an executive. Oh, that's not even true. A person higher than an executive," Contactmusic quoted Kunis as telling the Esquire magazine.
"It was like, 'If you don't do this magazine, you'll never work in this company'. I went, 'Great.' It was the first time that I had someone on the phone tell me that I will never work in this industry again," she said.
"I said, 'I'm sorry, what did you say?' It wasn't Playboy, but it was a magazine I didn't want to do," she added.
The 'Black Swan' star, who was surprised by what happened, disclosed that she couldn't believe how she was treated.
"It's very simple. I just didn't want to do it. I said I would do that one and that one, just not this one. And this person couldn't accept no. In my twenty-nine years, I've never met someone who lied as much as this person did," the actress claimed.
"You know when little kids look at you with chocolate all over their face, and then you say, 'Why did you eat that chocolate?' And they say, 'I didn't eat chocolate,' and you say, 'But you have it on your face.' It was worse than that. There are good, honest people who work their asses off and don't reach nearly as much success as this person does,.
"People in this industry lie so much, they believe their lies. That's what I learned on that movie. I learned people are a******s and people lie. I think that was the turning point of my career. Where I said no!" the actress added.

LiLo drops assault charges against ex congressional aide

LiLo drops assault charges against ex congressional aide
Lindsay Lohan has dropped the charges she levelled against a former congressional aide, whom she had accused of assaulting her at her Manhattan hotel room.
The 'Mean Girls' star accused 25-year-old Christian LaBella of choking and scratching her, after she confiscated his cell phone at Manhattan's W Hotel.
"I don't have any comment at this time. I'm thrilled the charges were dropped. That's all I got to say," the New York Daily News quoted him as telling TMZ.com.
Lohan had earlier said that LaBella latched on to her entourage during her crew's night out at trendy clubs Double Seven and 1Oak.
Once Lohan realized that he was taking and emailing photos of her without permission, police said she grabbed LaBella's cellphone to delete the offending pictures.
That's when, she said, LaBella got physical trying to get it back.
The assault charges, however, was dropped shortly afterwards when Lohan refused medical attention and didn't seem to be seriously hurt, law enforcement officials said.

Ajay Devgn’s return favour to Salman Khan

Ajay Devgn’s return favour to Salman KhanFriendship is a two-way street, and what better place than the film industry to demonstrate this fact? Salman Khan had taken time out from his busy schedule to shoot a song for Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardar and now, Ajay is going all out to return the favour.

The actor, who has been rather discreet about his plans, will be pulling out all stops to promote his big release, next week onward. However, leading lady Sonakshi Sinha won't be accompanying Ajay during some of these outings. Reason being her dates which had earlier been allotted for travelling alongside Ajay have now been assigned to Salman to shoot a song for Dabangg 2

A source told TOI, "Salman told Ajay he would need Sonakshi to shoot a song for his film toward the end of this month. Ajay, who is glad Salman made time to shoot a song for his Son of Sardar, was more than happy to accommodate Salman's wishes. They are like brothers and these last minute changes were done over just a phone call without any argument."

Sonakshi will finish shooting the Dabangg 2 song and then join Ajay in his promotional activities.
